“When the fiddler plays, you dance!”

Our Story

The Penk O’Donnell School of Irish Dance was established in 1995 as a way for Deirdre Penk O’Donnell to pass along her passion for Irish Dance and give back to the community.  To her great surprise, it turned out that she had a real knack for teaching! Students of the Penk O’Donnell School have achieved massive success at local, national & international levels. Deirdre has produced countless champions and dancers who have won medals at World Championships, titles at the North American Championships and gone on to dance professionally with shows such as “Riverdance” and “Lord of the Dance”.

Dancers are seen often performing on television, at the PNE, Kitsilano Showboat and many other venues around the Lower Mainland and Bellingham.

Most importantly however, dancers develop confidence, strength and friendships through the school. The Penk O’Donnell School of Dance is a place where dancers learn not only to develop personal discipline and self esteem but also develop friendships strong enough to last a lifetime. We actively encourage our dancers to support one another. High expectations empower our dancers to excel in every aspect of their lives.

At The Penk O’Donnell School of Irish Dance, excellent work habits are developed, wonderful memories are made, and lifelong friendships are formed. This is a great place to grow up!
